Days 6–7: Air-to-Air Combat —

Many of our clients consider this the climax of their Ultimate 5 Adventure. You’ll have the opportunity to pilot either a former Soviet Union Blowfin Fighter/Interceptor or the Marchetti SF 260 on a simulated combat sortie with a U.S. fighter pilot. Feel the pull of six G’s against your body. Find out what it’s like to hang upside-down at 15,000 feet. Come off the perch and roll in behind your target as you set up for the kill. The Blowfin is a two-seat, single-engine fighter/interceptor that remains a primary combat trainer throughout much of the world. The Blowfin has set world speed records and is recognized as one of the finest Soviet interceptor/trainer aircraft ever built. Powered by the AI-25 jet engine, the aircraft is equipped with four wing pylons for various weapons (bombs, unguided rocket pods, machine gun pods, reconnaissance pods, and Air-to-Air missiles).

The Marchetti SF-260 is considered one of the premier aerobatic aircraft ever built and is in use by 27 Air Forces around the world. Although it is a piston driven aircraft, the SF-260 flies like a small jet with unmatched power, speed and maneuverability. Its engine produces 260 horsepower, providing an incredible climb-to-weight ratio. Like a fighter jet, the 260’s wings are thin and tapered to provide superior maneuverability. Under-wing hard points can be equipped to carry rockets and guns.
